Biography & Career
Paulo Baldi is a highly active drummer and percussionist from the San Francisco bay area. He currently plays with Cake and Les Claypool which have taken him on numerous US and international tours and appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Late Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Conan, and Late Show w David Letterman. Bringing his talents closer to home, Paulo has been an influential percussionist in the San Francisco music scene since moving there from New Mexico in 1996. Member of the popular San Francisco rock bands, Deadweight, Eric McFadden Trio and Faraway Brothers, Paulo has made a distinct mark in the local rock music community, but his interest and studies in world percussion have led him to explore performance opportunities with a variety of international music groups including Pakistani vocalist group, the Ali Khan Band and flamenco guitarist, Ottmar Liebert. Paulo has traveled to Egypt, Turkey, Europe and Brazil in his studies.
Amongst touring and local gigs, Paulo is a sought-after studio drummer. His drumming can be heard on Cake's Showroom of Compassion and B-sides and Rarities, Les Claypool's Of Fungi and Foe, as well as The Joy of Suffering by the Eric McFadden Trio (EMT), Stroking The Moon by Deadweight and Push, the latest record by the Faraway Brothers released in January 2011. Paulo has also been a part of dozens of recording sessions for artists across the country seeking his talents as not only a solid, consistent drummer, but an accomplished hand percussionist.
